The role of a ROSS Service Coordinator serves essentially as a liaison between HHA Residents and the programs or organizations available to serve them. A successful program depends grealy on open, honest communication between the ROSS Service Coordinator(RSC), site manager, and the residents of a particular community.

Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program

Family self-sufficiency (FSS) is a HUD program that encourages communities to develop local strategies to help assisted families obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency. Public housing agencies (PHAs) work with welfare agencies, schools, businesses, and other local partners to develop a comprehensive program that gives participating FSS family members the skills and experience to enable them to obtain employment that pays a living wage.

Seniors: Life in Public Housing

The Huntington WV Housing Authority has many rentals set aside for those aged 55 and over. Many of our senior residents live in the four high rise apartment buildings located throughout Huntington. Living in a high rise can be beneficial for seniors, as it isn’t just somewhere to live. The Housing Authority provides many supportive services to our seniors as well.
